Oatland Fayre Day

The fourth annual Oatlands Fayre at the Community Resource Centre (Blue Hut) was a huge success with over 200 people attending and £500 being raised for the centre.
The fun-filled day provided something for everyone.
Activities included bingo, tombola, bouncy castle, raffles, books, CDs, bric a brac, face painting, rides and the very popular rides in the Clydesdale horse drawn cart.
In opening the event, Bailie James Scanlon said: ‘I am happy to be here to support this important day. There is something for everyone and everybody will have a wonderful time. I pay tribute to the staff and volunteers who have worked really hard to make this a success.’
When the bingo started, the hall was packed. And the same thing happened when the raffle was drawn. All the prizes were donated by local people.
One of the organisers was Noreen MacDonald, Centre Manager for five years, who said: ‘All the money raised will go towards keeping the centre going.’
Set up in 2001, the Blue Hut provides sessions in drama, healthy living, dance and line dancing. It is the base for a youth club, Oatlands Community Council and Oatlands Steering group.
