Staff and customers of Sainsburys in Woodlands Rd have raised £887.00 for the YWCA Family Learning Centre at Newton Terrace.
Every year Sainsburys nominate a charity and when Neill Livingstone became manager of the Woodlands store, 4 months ago, he decided to continue support for the YWCA for another year.
The Family Learning Centre run an amazing list of classes and is open to women of all backgrounds, those wishing to learn new skills, get out of the house or need support in a new country. On – site creche facilities are available for those attending classes at Newton Terrace. The centre also runs after school clubs for Anderston, Garnetbank and Kelvindale Primary Schools and play schemes over the summer holidays.
Starting in August there will be a Citizenship course, which will include visits to places of interest in glasgow as well as 4 in-house classes. One student who attended classes at the centre a year ago, Sylvia Rodriguez, enjoyed the work at the centre so much that she stayed on and became the receptionist!
