It’s My Glasgow

Budding young artists from local schools are once again being given the opportunity to show their artwork in the city centre, as the second year of  ‘It’s My Glasgow’ launches in St. Enoch Centre.

Pupils from primary and secondary schools across the city are invited to use art to express what the city means to them.

Paintings created by pupils from Anderston, Kelvinhaugh, Wallacewell and Caledonia primary schools are currently on display in the Centre and over the next few weeks shoppers will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite.

Artwork from Govan High, Hillhead High, Smithycroft Secondary and Bannerman High School will be showcased in the Centre from Monday 26  July.  The successful entries from each school will go forward to a final in September where the public and a special panel of judges will choose the overall winners in the primary and secondary school categories with prizes worth £1,500 in total being awarded.

Each participating school has taken part in a St. Enoch sponsored trip around Glasgow on the City’s sightseeing bus before receiving a talk from the Centre’s management team about the latest developments at St. Enoch.

Susan Nicol, General Manager of St. Enoch Centre, said: ‘It’s My Glasgow is an excellent competition which pays tribute to the city while giving young artists from city schools, a chance to receive recognition for their work.

‘Last year we were very impressed by the high standard of artwork produced. The quality of this year’s entries so far,  has been fantastic.

‘We hope that shoppers will spare a few moments to view the youngsters’ designs and vote for their favourite entries.’
