Three sisters whipped up a storm onstage in memory of their father at the Fotheringay Centre in Pollokshield as part of Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Big Build Appeal.
The Gleeson Girls – Gabrielle, 17, Victoria, 15 and Natalie 11 – gave a concert in memory of their dad, Paul, who died of cancer in March, aged 52.
The concert featured songs from artists such as Michael Jackson, Elaine Paige, Queen and Diana Ross, as well as classics penned by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Their mother, Maria Gleeson said: ‘Paul was very proud of Gabrielle, Victoria and Natalie and this is a fitting tribute to him as he loved music.
‘Both Paul and I are Glaswegians, and it is great we could stage this concert to raise money for such an important cause.
‘Marie Curie was a great support during Paul’s illness, we have a lot to thank them for. I am so glad we are able to fundraise for the charity, the girls are very talented.
‘The new hospice will provide much appreciated care and support for patients and their families, we know first-hand what this means and we are doing what we can to help the appeal in its fundraising efforts.’
The girls were accompanied by Fiona Wiggins on piano and the crowd was also treated to an extra special performance from Jim Muirhead, clarinettist and saxophonist with The Halle Orchestra.
Set to open in the Spring, the Big Build Appeal has raised £14m to date and with £2.1m to go by the time of the opening of a new hospice in Springburn.
Capital Appeal Fundraiser Manager for the Big Build Appeal, Glasgow, Karen Milne, said: “Maria and the girls are inspirational fundraisers. This is a cause very close to their hearts and they put so much effort in to arranging this special night. We are so grateful to all their fundraising efforts and the night was a great success.’
