Glasgow Irish groups ready for St Patrick’s Day festivities

Glasgow Irish are preparing to mark Saint Partick’s Day 2010 with a weekend of events in March.
Archbishop Mario Conti will celebrate the saint with a Mass at St Mary’s in Abercromby Street on 13 March at 11am, with traditional music and a Gaelic choir.
Garngad Irish Heritage Group has organised at St Partick’s Day Festival for that afternoon at Glenconner Park on Royston Road.
There will be music from bands including Seamus Moore, the Friel Sisters, the Wakes and the Comhaltas Musicians. There will also be a display of Irish dancing and a schools’ Gaelic football tournament.
Our Lady of Consolation, Govanhill, will be the venue for an art exhibition on Sunday 14 January after a Gaelic Mass.
On Monday 15 March - a massive concert will be held in the City Halls, Candleriggs, with acts including the Friel Sisters, St James Branch of Comhaltas, the Caroline Greene Dancers, Not Stavros Flatley and Anarkali.
Tickets for the event are available from the Concert Hall at £12 and £8 each and be warned - last year’s event was a sell out!
