Get creative at GSA tour
August 5, 2009 by Erik Geddes

Amateur and budding artists are being encouraged to visit the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) during the summer months to try out the Aspiring Artists tour.
Tours of the Mackintosh building at the GSA have been running for some 20 years, but the present extended tours are allowing participants to get creative.
Those attending are led around the building by one of the tour guides, all of whom are either current students or recent graduates from the GSA.
Then the participants get the chance to work with a number of different materials to create their very own masterpiece.
Kathy Randal, of Glasgow School of Art Enterprises, is delighted with the feedback they have had in this the busiest summer for visitor numbers ever.
She said: ‘We have had a fair number of kids on the tour and they all seem to really enjoy it.
‘People like making things that they can use which gives them something they can take away – something they can show off to their friends.’
Open to kids and adults, the Aspiring Artists meet at the visitor reception space on Dalhousie Street which has been developed with Heritage Lottery Fund cash.
And while spaces are still available, it’s advisable to pre-book places of the tour priced £7.75 and £5.75 for concessions.
