European Elections – Only the arrival of the official poll card flagged up that Thursday 4 June is the day I’m expected to vote for my next set of Euro MPs.

Apart from a mention of a hustings meeting organised by the European Movement for Tuesday 12 May in the Govan Mbeki building at Glasgow Caledonian University and a picture of a Dr Who style tardis machine being trundled around the country to ‘let your voice be heard’ on issues concerning Europe, there was nothing else jumping out to say ‘This is happening!’ ‘This is important!’

Amazingly, around 80% of our legislation in the UK deals with re-aligning our laws to fit new European regulations.  Whether we like it or not, we are part of Europe and might as well start working in true partnership with the others. People have till Tuesday 19 May to register to vote: www.aboutmyvote.co.uk will let you print off a registration form.  Just remember the Scottish MEPs have been reduced from 7 to six and the rain will be off that day.
